This is such a nice bookstore. The employee was so friendly, and the selection was amazing. I bought two books and can't wait to go back for more. Also, for visitors, there is an incredible selection of OBX fiction and nonfiction. Definitely worth the buy. There are also leather backed classic novels that are less than $20. If you love books, definitely come to this shop. Also, interestingly enough, the woman who works there is also from a town very close to where we are from, so it was so cool to meet someone here from our state.

Great to find a quaint small book store with a great selection and knowledgeable staff. I particularly liked that they had a display of "banned books". I made sure to purchase one and made note of several more. If I lived in the area, they would probably have to push me out the door at closing time!

Great bookstore with all the options you could want. I loved their different displays, highlighting titles I haven’t seen much. They had a table in the front with local authors/outer banks specific books. Check the back for their section of giveaways (free with a purchase) - that was one of my favorite parts! The staff member was knowledgeable and friendly. Parking was simple - free lot right outside the store. I had my 1 year old in an umbrella stroller and there were only a few tight corners that were tricky to get around, otherwise it was fine!

Great shop for local authors, buy a book read a free before posted title, and so many more merch finds! A nice retreat away from the bustle of the shops! Good prices and nice collection of books, magazines, and novelty book items!

Loved this bookstore, could have spent a lot of time in here. Great selection, including a lot of fun chapter/picture books and activity books for kids.

As we were buying our 3 books. My daughter says "this is the best bookstore I've ever been to". (They had a section just for her). I always try and visit local bookstores whenever I travel and this place was indeed one of the better bookstores. Good selections, nice staff, and clean / well decorated store. Thanks! And will visit again.

My 93-year-old mother, who is a retired English teacher, had gone through her stash of books at the beach and wanted more. We visited Island Bookstore and we were SO pleased! The lady behind the counter, who shared that she was a former librarian, walked Mother around and helped her find exactly what she was looking for. How wonderful to find such kind and helpful people!

I went into this store looking for a specific book. Even though the Kitty Hawk location was out of stock, the employees let me know that they had more on the way. When I told them I'd be out of town by then, they asked one of their other locations to hold a copy for me. They were incredibly nice and wanted to make sure I could get my hands on a copy! The store itself was nice as well, and they had a great selection. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in the area.
